This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve adequate control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

Take one tablet of Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily with a small amount of water, regardless of meals. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is taken when prescribed for blood pressure reduction. Patients with renal impairment do not require dosage adjustment for mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of more than 30 mL/min). This drug can cause severe harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this drug's components or sulfonamide medications, or those with severe liver or kidney impairment, should not take this medication. Patients with electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia, hyponatremia, or hypercalcemia, or those with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction should use this drug cautiously. This medication has blood pressure-lowering effects, so dizziness or hypotension symptoms may occur when first taken; caution is necessary. Potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and regular blood tests for potassium and sodium levels should be conducted. This medication may cause sensitivity to sunlight; therefore, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure or take appropriate skin protection while on this medication. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. This drug may interact with other medications, so any other drugs being taken must be reported to a doctor or pharmacist. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolyte levels is necessary during treatment with this medication.
