How to take

Adult dose

Take one tablet of Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, with or without food and with a small amount of water. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg should be taken if prescribed for blood pressure reduction. Dose adjustment is not necessary for patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or more). Patients with liver impairment should not exceed the use of 80 mg of Valsartan.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medicine or its ingredients, or those with certain liver dysfunction, kidney impairment, or angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with electrolyte imbalance or problems with kidney or liver function, elderly individuals, and heart failure patients should use this medicine with caution and require regular monitoring. Symptoms such as dizziness, headache, fatigue, cough, and diarrhea may occur during use, and rare but serious allergic reactions, kidney failure, or blood abnormalities may develop, so any abnormal symptoms should be immediately discussed with healthcare providers. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised, and symptoms of hypotension should be reported to a doctor if they arise. Patients should avoid taking potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications without consultation, and those with kidney or liver function issues should have regular blood tests. This drug may interact with other medications, especially lithium, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and potassium-sparing diuretics, so use with these should be discussed with a doctor. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and it is not recommended during breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been established; hence, it is best not to use it in pediatric populations. In case of an overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, arrhythmias, and electrolyte abnormalities may occur; therefore, it is crucial to avoid exceeding the recommended dosage and to seek emergency treatment for any unusual symptoms. This medicine should be stored in a tightly sealed container, protected from moisture and direct sunlight, and kept out of the reach of children.
