Lipid control effect through reduction of LDL cholesterol and increase of HDL cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and mixed hyperlipidemia
This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B protein, and triglyceride levels while increasing good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. It is also used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia either in combination with other therapies or as an alternative treatment. This medication is utilized when dietary adjustments and non-drug therapy are insufficient, playing an important role in reducing the risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases due to hypercholesterolemia. Before administration, it is necessary to identify any secondary causes of dyslipidemia and treat them if necessary, and to accurately assess blood lipid levels to establish a treatment plan. This medication improves cholesterol levels to support vascular health and is used to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
This medication is administered once daily in the evening, regardless of meals. For patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage range is 10/10mg to 10/40mg daily, with the generally recommended starting dose being 10/20mg daily. Patients with a lower need for LDL cholesterol reduction may start with 10/10mg daily. After initiating this medication or adjusting the dose, blood lipid levels should be checked at intervals of at least 4 weeks to adjust the dosage.
