Treatment of essential hypertension and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication provides blood pressure control effects for patients with essential hypertension. Additionally, it helps lower the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients aged 55 and older who cannot use ACE inhibitors, reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death from cardiovascular diseases. It is particularly useful for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attacks, or diabetic end-organ damage. This medication is effective in stabilizing blood pressure and protecting cardiovascular health.
Essential hypertension: Administer 40 mg of Telmisartan orally once daily with water, regardless of food. Depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may be effective, and if needed, the dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily. Dose increases may show maximum blood pressure-lowering effects 4 to 8 weeks after starting treatment. Risk reduction of cardiovascular disease: Take 80 mg once daily with water.
