This medication is used to treat essential hypertension. Telmisartan 80 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg are administered as a single-agent or in combination to effectively lower blood pressure in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled. Therefore, this medication helps improve blood pressure control in hypertensive patients.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone, take once daily with a drink, regardless of food. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 40 mg of Telmisartan. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 80 mg of Telmisartan.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. If pregnancy is confirmed, treatment with this medication should be stopped immediately and replaced with another safe treatment. This medication should not be administered to individuals with hypersensitivity to its ingredients, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction. Additionally, it should not be used in patients with bile duct obstruction, acute glomerulonephritis, or anuria. Caution is advised when administering this medication to the elderly or patients with impaired liver function, elevated serum potassium levels, or heart disease. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, excessive hypotension can lead to myocardial infarction or stroke. Regular blood tests are necessary to monitor electrolyte levels, as Hydrochlorothiazide can cause fluid and electrolyte imbalance. This medication may increase serum potassium levels, so caution is needed when it is used with potassium supplements or medications high in potassium. Furthermore, this medication contains sorbitol, making it unsuitable for patients with fructose intolerance. Caution should also be taken when driving or operating machinery, as symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. During the course of treatment, exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet light should be limited, and any skin abnormalities should be reported to a doctor immediately. There are many interactions with other medications, so inform your doctor or pharmacist of any medications you are taking. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and dehydration may occur, and immediate medical attention is necessary.
