It should be injected before both phacoemulsification and insertion of the intraocular lens to optimize corneal endothelial protective effect as an adjunct. This medication may also be used as a coating on surgical instruments and on the intraocular lens to be implanted. 2. Corneal transplantation: Fill the anterior chamber with this medication until the corneal graft is removed and aligned with the corneal surface. View approved original text

This medication is used to assist in various ophthalmic surgeries such as intraocular lens implantation after cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and glaucoma surgery.

How it is given

Adult administration

1. Cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation: Slowly inject the required amount of this medication into the anterior chamber of the eye before or after lens removal via a needle or cannula. Place the donor graft on top of this medication and suture. 3. Glaucoma filtration surgery: Inject this medication through a corneal puncture to supplement and maintain anterior chamber volume during trabeculectomy.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to protein-based drugs or to any component of this product. Ocular side effects may include temporary increase in intraocular pressure, and rarely may cause inflammation, corneal edema, corneal opacity, bleeding, vascular abnormalities of the iris, pain, itching, and vision loss. There is also a possibility of developing opacification on the surface of the intraocular lens, and as it contains phosphate components, very rarely, calcification of the cornea may occur in patients with severe corneal damage. Immediately after surgery, intraocular pressure should be monitored closely, and if an increase occurs, appropriate treatment is necessary. Postoperatively, it is recommended to clean or aspirate this medication, and prior to ultrasonic emulsification aspiration, it is advisable to create a space between the lens and this medication with an irrigating solution. Solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds, such as benzalkonium chloride, should not be used to clean surgical instruments. This product should not be used in conjunction with hyaluronidase, is for ophthalmic use only, and must never be injected intravascularly. When using, the refrigerated medication should be allowed to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before use, and any unused portion should be discarded after one use. During injection, care should be taken to prevent air from entering beneath the iris, and it should be administered slowly, as excessive injection may cause an increase in intraocular pressure. Caution is advised. While storing, keep out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store sealed in a cool, dry place.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
