This drug is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Additionally, in patients over 55 who are at high risk for cardiovascular disease and cannot use ACE inhibitors, it helps to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death due to cardiovascular disease. It is particularly effective for high-risk diabetic patients with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attack, or end-organ damage. This drug is used to manage hypertension and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events.

How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, Telmisartan is to be taken orally at a dose of 40 mg once daily with water, with no relation to food. Depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may also be effective, and if necessary, the dose may be increased up to 80 mg once daily. Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in pregnant or potentially pregnant women, or in breastfeeding women. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or similar compounds in the past should avoid taking it. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of dizziness or fainting. In case of overdose, symptoms such as decreased blood pressure, dizziness, and worsened kidney function may occur, requiring immediate visit to a medical facility.
