Patients with chronic active hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe pancreatic disease, peptic ulcers, or gallstones should exercise caution when using this medication. If symptoms do not improve after taking it for up to 8 weeks or if abnormal symptoms occur, immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should preferably avoid using this medication, as harmful effects on the fetus have been reported in animal studies.
