Improvement of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and coronary artery disease (angina), and reduction of hospitalization risk for angina.
This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with hypertension. It is also effective in treating myocardial ischemia caused by stable angina, which occurs due to narrowing of the coronary arteries, and variant angina caused by vascular spasms. It helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients without heart failure or with an ejection fraction greater than 40%. Additionally, it is used to reduce the risk of complications after coronary artery revascularization. Overall, it plays an important role in improving cardiovascular health.
The oral dosage of S-Amlodipine is 2.5 mg once daily, and may be increased up to 5 mg daily according to the patient's response. Adjust according to age and symptoms.
The oral dosage of S-Amlodipine for effective blood pressure reduction is 1.25 mg-2.5 mg once daily. In pediatric patients, doses exceeding 2.5 mg per day have not been studied.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and individuals who are breastfeeding should avoid taking it. Patients with serious heart problems or in a state of shock, those with severe liver dysfunction or hypotension may also be at risk if they take this medication. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, patients with acute heart failure, and those in a hypertensive crisis should use this medication cautiously. Side effects such as flushing accompanied by heat sensation, fatigue, leg swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headaches, dyspepsia, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, weakness, lethargy, pain, weight changes, chills, hypotension, postural hypotension, postural dizziness, peripheral ischemia, vasculitis, fainting, tachycardia, peripheral edema, increased muscle tension, sensory reduction, sensory abnormalities, peripheral neuropathy, dysgeusia, tremors, paralysis, extrapyramidal disorders, erectile dysfunction, and in women may occur. Rarely, various abnormal reactions such as dry mouth, increased sweating, hypotension, fainting, myalgia, and liver function abnormalities can also occur, so if unusual symptoms appear, consult a doctor immediately. Abruptly stopping this medication may worsen symptoms, so the dosage should be gradually reduced according to a doctor's instructions, and care should be taken not to stop taking it arbitrarily. Patients with poor liver function may have slower drug metabolism, necessitating dosage adjustments and caution. It is advisable to take this medication with plenty of water and be cautious of dizziness or fatigue due to blood pressure lowering when performing hazardous activities such as operating machinery or driving. This medication may have interactions when taken with other blood pressure medications, diuretics, beta-blockers, antibiotics, etc., so you must inform your doctor or pharmacist about any current medications. Especially, taking it with grapefruit juice may enhance the drug's effects, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. If pregnant or breastfeeding, the safety of this medication has not been established, so taking it should be avoided, and in the case of breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding. Use in children is recommended only for those aged 6 years and older, and for the elderly, starting with a low dose is advisable as the effects of the medication may be stronger, and their condition should be closely monitored. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, and shock may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment, and the drug is not removed by dialysis. Lastly, keep this medication out of the reach of children, and avoid transferring the medication to other containers.
Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reaction, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/eye mucosa, severe skin abnormal reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and severe headache.
