This medication is primarily used as an adjunct when dietary changes and exercise are insufficient for controlling primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Additionally, it is used as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It helps lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, thus slowing the progression of atherosclerosis. In particular, it is also used as an adjunct to diet in patients aged 10 to 17 who meet specific criteria for hypercholesterolemia. It is also applied as an adjunct to diet in patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Lastly, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and peripheral revascularization in high-risk patients aged middle-aged and above. This medication is used to improve cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
