This medication is used in the treatment of essential hypertension. It may effectively improve blood pressure in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by telmisartan alone.

How to take

Adult dose

In patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by telmisartan alone, take once daily with water regardless of meals. Before switching to this medication with fixed doses of each component, it is recommended to assess the individual components in a titrated manner. When clinically appropriate, it may be considered to switch directly from monotherapy to this combination medication. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan 40 mg. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan 80 mg. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/25 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either telmisartan 80 mg or hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg single therapy or combination therapy. Sodium or volume depletion must be corrected prior to the start of this medication. Patients with Renal Impairment No dose adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Precautions

This medication can pose serious risks to the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in individuals allergic to any of its components or those with certain liver or kidney diseases. Caution is advised in elderly patients or those with high potassium levels or impaired liver function, as well as in patients with heart diseases or gastrointestinal disorders. The hydrochlorothiazide component may affect the body's electrolyte balance, potentially causing hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, and other electrolyte disturbances, so regular blood tests are required. This medication may cause skin reactions that are sensitive to sunlight, so patients should avoid UV exposure and take care of skin protection during treatment. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensives, certain diuretics, lithium, potassium supplements, etc., so consultation with a doctor is essential. Symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. Overdose may lead to hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration, requiring immediate medical assistance. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established.
