Precautions

This medication should be used alone for a short period as using it with other appetite suppressants may cause serious heart disease. Combining this medication with other weight loss drugs is not recommended as safety and efficacy have not been established. Long-term use of this medication may significantly increase the risk of pulmonary hypertension, a fatal lung disease, so do not use it for more than 3 months. If symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting, or leg swelling occur, immediately stop taking the medication and visit a hospital. It is advisable not to use this medication in patients with heart disease such as valvular heart disease or those with heart murmurs, and to undergo cardiac examination before use. This medication should not be administered to individuals sensitive to adrenergic agents, those with cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroid patients, glaucoma patients, those who are mentally anxious or agitated, or those with a history of substance abuse. Additionally, it should not be taken by children under 16 years old, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or those with specific genetic lactose metabolism disorders. Patients with mild hypertension, diabetic patients, and nursing mothers should exercise caution when using this medication. This medication may cause side effects such as increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, and constipation, so if symptoms are severe, consult a healthcare provider. Tolerance to the appetite-suppressing effect may develop within weeks, and if its effectiveness diminishes, do not increase the dose but stop taking the medication. This medication affects the central nervous system, so caution is advised when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Diabetic patients may need to adjust their insulin dosage while taking this medication. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as anxiety, coma, seizures, abnormal blood pressure, and vomiting may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is needed. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and is classified as a controlled substance, with risks of abuse and dependence, so it must be taken strictly according to a doctor's instructions. Suddenly stopping after prolonged high-dose treatment can lead to severe fatigue and depression, so it is safer to taper off gradually. It is crucial to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or if planning to become pregnant for the safety of the fetus. Nursing mothers should consult a doctor before taking this medication as it may be passed into breast milk.
