For essential hypertension, the initial and maintenance dose as Candesartan Cilexetil is recommended to be taken orally at 8 to 16 mg once daily. For heart failure, an initial dose of 4 mg taken once daily is recommended, and the dose may be doubled at intervals of at least 2 weeks based on the patient's tolerance.

This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension and is indicated for patients with heart failure and impaired left ventricular systolic function, especially those who are classified as NYHA class II to IV and have a left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or less, requiring additional treatment or who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. This helps alleviate heart failure symptoms and improve cardiac function.

How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, the initial and maintenance dose as Candesartan Cilexetil is recommended to be taken orally at 8 to 16 mg once daily. If, after 4 weeks of treatment at a dose of 16 mg once daily, blood pressure is still not sufficiently controlled, the dose may be increased up to 32 mg once daily. For heart failure, an initial dose of 4 mg taken once daily is recommended, and the dose may be doubled at intervals of at least 2 weeks based on the patient's tolerance.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Persons with allergies to this drug or its components, severe liver disease, cholestasis, or a history of angioedema should not take it. If side effects occur, notify healthcare personnel immediately and seek appropriate measures. This drug may lead to dangerously low blood pressure or dangerously high potassium levels when taken with other antihypertensives or potassium-sparing diuretics, so caution is necessary. Particularly, when taken with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, there is a risk of worsening kidney function, so consultation with a physician is advised. When undergoing surgery or anesthesia, it is essential to inform healthcare personnel about taking this drug, and it is recommended to avoid taking it within 24 hours prior to surgery. Caution should be exercised to prevent accidents due to dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating machinery after taking this medication. The safety and effectiveness of this drug have not been established in children and adolescents, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop sharply, so visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to other containers for safety.
