If cilostazol monotherapy is insufficiently effective, alternative therapy combining cilostazol and ginkgo biloba extract may be used to improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness due to chronic arterial occlusive disease. This combination therapy is also applied for the purpose of preventing recurrence after the onset of cerebral infarction. This treatment helps alleviate each symptom and prevent recurrence, thereby improving the patient's quality of life.

Precautions

This medication may increase heart rate, leading to the risk of angina symptoms such as chest pain, so it is necessary to carefully monitor for such symptoms. It should not be used in patients with a risk of bleeding or those who have recently had a hemorrhagic stroke or surgery, or in patients with hemorrhagic disorders such as hemophilia or gastrointestinal bleeding. Patients with congestive heart failure, those who have previously shown allergic reactions to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. Patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs that affect blood coagulation, women during menstruation, patients with heart disease, patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, and diabetic patients should use this medication with caution. This medication can cause serious side effects such as bleeding, blood cell reduction, pneumonia, heart problems, and liver dysfunction, so if any unusual symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Dizziness may occur, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. This medication is metabolized by the liver, so caution must be exercised when taken with certain other medications that may raise blood concentration and increase the risk of side effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing women should discontinue breastfeeding while taking it. Children and the elderly should take this medication with caution as its safety has not been sufficiently established or there may be a decline in body function. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, and arrhythmia may occur, necessitating immediate visit to a healthcare facility for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight and moisture, and kept out of reach of children. If any signs of bleeding or symptoms of blood disorders occur during use, inform medical staff immediately and undergo regular blood tests to check for abnormalities.
