Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to this drug or its ingredients. Caution is needed for patients taking other serotonergic drugs, and it should be administered carefully under a doctor's judgment. While taking this medication, constipation and hard stools may commonly occur, so if these symptoms arise, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur, so if you experience abnormal symptoms, stop administration immediately and seek treatment. Due to the risk of serious bowel diseases such as ischemic colitis, if symptoms such as abdominal pain or bloody stools occur, the use of this medication should be stopped immediately and medical consultation should be sought. Patients with a history of abdominal surgery should be specially monitored for the risk of bowel obstruction when taking this medication. Since this drug is primarily metabolized in the liver, taking it with other medications that affect liver function may increase blood concentration and side effects. Particularly, taking it with antidepressants, anticholinergics, or antidiarrheal medications may worsen side effects such as constipation, so be sure to inform your healthcare provider. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding. Safety for children and neonates has not been established, so it is recommended not to use it in children. Elderly patients may have impaired physical function, so their condition should be closely monitored during administration, and if any adverse reactions occur, administration should be stopped immediately. This medication should be taken out of the packaging and caution should be taken not to swallow the packaging whole. If the packaging gets stuck in the esophagus, serious side effects may occur. Before taking this medication, confirm that it is not diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, and fully consult with healthcare professionals if experiencing recurring diarrhea symptoms. If other diseases showing similar symptoms, such as colon cancer or inflammatory bowel disease, are suspected, appropriate examinations should be performed. If there is no improvement in symptoms, a decision should be made about whether to continue or discontinue treatment based on 3 months, and long-term use should be avoided.
