This medication is used to treat inflammatory joint diseases such as chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also effective in relieving pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It helps reduce painful swelling and inflammation following trauma or surgery, aiding recovery. Additionally, it plays a supportive role in the treatment of infections accompanied by inflammation, pain, and fever. Overall, this drug is used to improve various inflammatory diseases and related symptoms.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For dexibuprofen, 300 mg orally 2 to 4 times a day. However, do not exceed 1,200 mg of dexibuprofen in one day.

Precautions

This medication should be consulted with a doctor or pharmacist before use for individuals who regularly consume more than 3 drinks of alcohol daily. This drug can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, hence special caution is required for individuals with gastrointestinal disorders. Those with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors should be cautious as serious cardiovascular issues like myocardial infarction or stroke may occur when taking this drug. Individuals with hypertension or heart failure should use this medication very carefully and avoid high doses. Also, this drug may cause gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, perforation, etc., so special care should be taken especially in the elderly or those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases. If gastrointestinal symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Individuals with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe liver/kidney impairment, severe heart failure, hypertension, or asthma should not take this medication. Taking this drug along with aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases the risk of serious side effects, so it is advisable not to use them together. Pregnant women who are more than 6 months along should avoid this medication, and women in early pregnancy or those planning to become pregnant should consult with a professional before taking it. Care should be taken while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur during the use of this drug. Women who are breastfeeding should consider discontinuing breastfeeding or stopping this medication, as it may pass into breast milk and affect the baby. Individuals with blood disorders, liver/kidney diseases, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and allergies should consult with a professional before use. This drug has many interactions with other medications, and care is needed especially when taken with aspirin, anticoagulants, diuretics, lithium, immunosuppressants, etc. If symptoms such as severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, difficulty breathing, severe gastrointestinal symptoms, liver dysfunction, or kidney impairment occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. This medication should be used at the lowest possible dose and for the shortest duration. Regular blood tests and checks of liver/kidney function are required during long-term use. After 20 weeks of pregnancy, it may affect the kidney function of the fetus; thus, even if necessary, it should be used at the minimum dose for a short period only. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a cool and dry place out of the reach of children and away from direct sunlight.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities with cough and fever, jaundice (yellowish skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, consciousness confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with aspirin, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or high-dose methotrexate. Also, be cautious when using with corticosteroids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, coumarin anticoagulants (such as warfarin), baclofen, and immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus).
