In severe cases, serious complications such as bowel obstruction or intestinal perforation may occur, requiring caution. If symptoms such as abdominal pain or blood in stool occur, serious conditions such as ischemic colitis may be suspected; therefore, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. This drug should be used cautiously by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and it is advisable to stop breastfeeding if nursing. This drug is used for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome and is not suitable for constipation-predominant patients.
