Improvement of essential hypertension
Essential hypertension is a condition where blood pressure remains persistently high, which may be difficult to manage with a single medication. This medicine works with multiple components to effectively lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications arising from hypertension. It helps to manage blood pressure stably through combination therapy. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken regardless of meals. For adults, the dose of candesartan cilexetil should be adjusted before switching to this medication, and the antihypertensive effect is usually observed within four weeks after starting treatment. For the elderly, specific dose adjustments are not necessary. In patients with reduced effective intravascular blood volume and renal impairment (mild to moderate), dose adjustments of candesartan cilexetil are recommended.
This drug can cause serious harm or even death to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this drug's ingredients or sulfonamide derivatives, pregnant women or those planning a pregnancy, nursing mothers, those with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction, etc., should not take this medication. Patients with excessively low blood pressure or issues regarding fluid and electrolyte balance, certain heart conditions, gout, the elderly, etc. should use this medication cautiously, and it is important to consult a physician before taking it. During treatment, blood pressure, renal function, electrolyte levels, etc. should be monitored regularly to closely observe for adverse reactions or side effects. The hydrochlorothiazide component may lower potassium levels in the body, so potassium levels should be carefully monitored when combined with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), etc., so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. The hydrochlorothiazide component can react sensitively to sunlight, potentially increasing the risk of skin cancer, so it is important to avoid sun exposure and pay attention to sun protection during treatment. This drug can pass into breast milk, so nursing mothers should avoid taking it or discontinue breastfeeding, and the safety of this medication for children and adolescents under 18 years has not been established. In case of overdose, symptoms may include low blood pressure, dizziness, electrolyte imbalances, etc., so if symptoms occur, consult a medical professional immediately for appropriate treatment.
