View approved original text

This medication is effective for patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy of amlodipine or losartan. It is also used in initial treatment for patients with stage 2 hypertension who require combination therapy to reach target blood pressure. This helps to effectively manage blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Taking this medication during pregnancy can lead to various dangerous symptoms such as decreased fetal kidney function, hypotension, skull formation abnormalities, and decreased amniotic fluid. Patients with reduced effective blood volume, such as those on diuretics, should stabilize their condition before taking this medication and it's preferable to avoid it. Patients who are allergic to any of the components of this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver function impairment, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock should not take this medication. Dizziness may occur due to blood pressure lowering, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. This medication may affect liver and kidney function, so patients with liver or kidney disease should consult their doctor before taking it. Additionally, there is a risk of hyperkalemia, so potassium levels should be closely monitored when used in conjunction with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. During treatment with this medication, combining it with other antihypertensive drugs may enhance effectiveness, so it should be done under a doctor's supervision. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients, especially those over 75 years, may require dosage adjustments, so caution is needed during initial administration. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and tachycardia may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. Taking this medication with grapefruit juice may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect, so it's advisable to avoid grapefruit juice. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult their doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers should avoid it. Keep this medication out of reach of children and avoid transferring it to another container.
