Improvement of essential hypertension
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose treatment with individual components is insufficient.
The recommended dose for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken regardless of meals. The dosage of candesartan cilexetil should be adjusted first, and then a direct switch to this medication can be made from monotherapy. No dosage adjustment is needed for the elderly. Consider adjusting the dosage of candesartan cilexetil in patients with reduced effective blood volume, renal impairment, or hepatic impairment.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be used by individuals allergic to this medication's ingredients or sulfonamide drugs, pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant, breastfeeding individuals, those with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction, patients with a history of certain angioedema, or gout patients. Patients with decreased blood volume or sodium deficiency, liver disease, heart valve disease, hyperkalemia, the elderly, etc., should use this medication cautiously and consult a physician before use. During treatment, various side effects such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, dyspepsia, and skin rash may occur; immediately report to medical personnel if symptoms are severe or persistent. Due to the strong hypotensive effect, especially when taken with other antihypertensive medications, there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low, so regular monitoring of blood pressure and blood tests should be conducted to assess renal function and electrolyte levels periodically. This medication can affect potassium levels; therefore, when taken with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium concentrations should be monitored carefully. If surgery or anesthesia is planned, inform medical personnel beforehand as this medication can affect blood pressure, and it may be necessary to temporarily discontinue its use. Safety and efficacy for children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and electrolyte imbalance may appear, in which case immediate medical treatment is required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent degradation and misuse. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or fatigue may occur.
