This medicine is used to prevent and disinfect bacterial infections in torn wounds, burns, and lesions. It is also effective in sterilizing areas with pus, such as ulcers or abscesses. It is utilized for disinfection of infected skin surfaces, surgical sites, and areas for injections or catheter insertions to prevent infection. Therefore, it helps maintain cleanliness in wounds and infected areas and aids in recovery.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For instance, individuals allergic to this medicine or its ingredients, those with thyroid dysfunction, poor kidney function, newborns or infants under 6 months old, those with herpetic dermatitis, or those before or after receiving radioactive iodine treatment should not use this medicine. Furthermore, severe patients or elderly individuals with a history of thyroid disease or previous kidney issues should use this medicine with caution. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur while using this medicine, and if breathing difficulties or skin symptoms such as hives develop, use should be immediately discontinued. Skin pain, itching, rash, redness may occur, and it is advisable to stop use if symptoms are severe. Using large amounts may cause electrolyte imbalances or renal dysfunction, requiring careful monitoring. Prolonged use may lead to changes in thyroid hormone levels, and extensive use may cause discomfort in the mouth or throat, abnormal skin reactions, or gastrointestinal issues. Particularly, if used shortly before childbirth, the baby's eyes and skin should be thoroughly cleaned after delivery, and since this medicine is a conservative treatment method, if symptoms do not improve, other treatments should be considered. When using on patients with extensive burns, adequate hydration and kidney function testing are necessary, and there should be a 1-2 week interval between thyroid diagnostic tests and the use of this medicine. This medicine contains iodine, so care should be taken regarding thyroid function abnormalities with extensive or prolonged use. When an infection is present, the wound should be cleaned with saline before using this medicine, and severe allergic reactions may occur, thus immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms are severe. Individuals receiving lithium treatment should avoid using this medicine regularly, and using it in conjunction with specific antiseptics or wound treatments may reduce its effectiveness. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using this medicine for long periods or over large areas, as it may affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn, and thyroid function testing for the newborn is recommended. This medication may impact the results of thyroid function tests, so caution is needed during testing. In case of overdose, severe symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, dizziness, and difficulty in breathing may appear, and immediate medical help should be sought, as specific treatment may be necessary for detoxification. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and the affected area should be cleaned and disinfected. If this medicine comes into contact with clothing, it should be washed immediately, and after using soap, it should be thoroughly rinsed to avoid residues. Mild side effects

Rarely, anaphylactic symptoms (such as flushing), iododerma, pain, itching, irritation, rash, redness, dermatitis, burning sensation, skin ulcers, contact dermatitis, skin discoloration, impaired wound healing, electrolyte and serum osmolality disturbances, metabolic acidosis, iodine toxicity, metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation and pain in throat and mouth, eye irritation and swelling, skin reactions, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, serum iodide binding protein increase.

Drug interactions

Do not use this medicine in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide. Consult with a doctor or pharmacist if using with lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, sulfonamides, silver compounds, alkaline preparations, mercury-containing preparations, or enzyme-containing wound treatments.

Storage

This medicine should be stored in a tightly sealed container that can block light, and kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain its effectiveness and prevent degradation.
