Improvement of bowel management in chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (constipation type), etc.
This medication is used as an adjunct therapy for chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation in diverticular disease. It also aids in bowel management for patients with hemorrhoids and in treating constipation during pregnancy, post-recovery phases, and in the elderly. Overall, it is effective in improving constipation due to various causes.
Adults: 1 spoon (3-3.25g of psyllium husk, 8-8.67g of this product) 1-3 times daily before meals or between meals (on an empty stomach) taken orally. Method of administration: 1) Add 1 dose (adults: 1 spoon) to an appropriate container of water. 2) Slowly fill the container with cold water. 3) After stirring the contents well, immediately drink all of it. If taken without water against the instructions, be sure to consume an adequate amount of fluids.
Children (6-12 years): Administer 1/2 of the adult dose. Method of administration: 1) Add 1 dose (children: 1/2 spoon) to an appropriate container of water. 2) Slowly fill the container with cold water. 3) Stir the contents well.
This medication should not be taken by patients with acute abdominal diseases, colonic relaxation, intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal stenosis requiring surgery, or in cases of fecal impaction. Additionally, since the artificial sweetener aspartame contained in this medication breaks down into phenylalanine in the body, patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should not take this medication. Patients with severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, children, those taking other medications, and pregnant women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Particularly, extra caution is needed during the first three months of pregnancy. It is important to consult a specialist if there is a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks. If symptoms such as allergy, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Moreover, if there is any rectal bleeding after taking this medication, consult a specialist, and if constipation symptoms do not improve after taking it for more than a week, the medication should be discontinued and the cause identified. This medication may increase the effect of cardiac glycosides when taken together due to potassium deficiency, so caution is advised. It is essential to strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage and method, and when administering to children, supervision by a guardian is necessary. This medication should not be taken dry without water; drinking a cup of water after taking it is more effective. Prolonged use may lead to tolerance and worsening of constipation, so long-term use should be avoided. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Also, do not transfer medications from their original container to another; store them in their original container and close them tightly for safety.
