This medication is used to treat intermittent claudication caused by peripheral arterial circulation disorders, dizziness, and vascular or degenerative tinnitus (ringing in the ears). It is also effective for treating organic brain function disorders with dementia-like symptoms such as tinnitus, headaches, memory decline, concentration impairment, feelings of depression, and dizziness. Overall, it helps to improve blood circulation and brain function, thereby alleviating these symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

For peripheral arterial circulation disorders, dizziness, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears), administer Ginkgo leaf extract as follows: 40mg orally three times a day or 80mg orally twice a day. For organic brain function disorders, administer Ginkgo leaf extract as follows: 40-80mg orally three times a day or 120mg orally twice a day. Adjust appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals with certain allergic reactions. Particularly, those with hypersensitivity to this medication should avoid its use. Children under 12 years old should not use this medication as there is insufficient experience with its use in this age group. Although animal studies have shown no teratogenic effects, pregnant women should refrain from using this medication due to insufficient experience on its use during pregnancy. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with genetic issues like lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Those with bleeding disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. Breastfeeding women are recommended to consult with professionals before taking this medication, as it is not known how much of it passes into breast milk. This medication contains the dye Yellow No. 5 (Tartrazine), so individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity to this substance should avoid its use. Those scheduled for surgery should discontinue this medication and consult their healthcare provider. If symptoms do not improve or worsen even after taking the medication for three months or longer, discontinue use immediately and consult with a professional. If gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, or skin allergic reactions occur while taking this medication, stop taking it and consult with a physician. Dizziness or itching has been reported rarely, so caution should be exercised if such symptoms occur. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis have been reported, so if sudden shortness of breath or swelling occurs, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is not a treatment for high blood pressure, so patients with hypertension should not attempt to treat their high blood pressure with this medication.
