Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux; prevention of recurrent reflux esophagitis; prevention of NSAID-induced ulcers
This medication is used to treat symptoms associated with mild gastroesophageal reflux disease, such as heartburn, acid reflux, and swallowing pain. It also helps prevent the recurrence of reflux esophagitis as long-term maintenance therapy. For patients who are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) continuously, this medication helps prevent the occurrence of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is effective in improving various gastrointestinal conditions.
1. Treatment of mild gastroesophageal reflux disease and related symptoms : The usual dosage is 20 mg of pantoprazole once daily, taken orally before breakfast. Symptom relief generally occurs within 2 ∼ 4 weeks, and healing may be achieved with a usual 4-week course. If healing is not achieved, it may be achieved with an additional 4-week course. 2. Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of reflux esophagitis : The usual dosage is 20 mg of pantoprazole once daily, taken before breakfast. If recurrence occurs, the dosage may be increased to 40 mg of pantoprazole daily, and then reduced to 20 mg daily again after healing. 3. Prevention of gastroduodenal ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in patients who require continuous treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs : The usual dosage is 20mg of pantoprazole once daily. ◯ No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients or patients with renal impairment. ◯ Patients with hepatic impairment In patients with severe hepatic impairment, do not exceed 20 mg of this drug once daily.
