Improvement in blood pressure control when monotherapy for hypertension is insufficient
This medication is used additionally in patients with hypertension when blood pressure control is insufficient with monotherapy to effectively lower and control blood pressure.
Start with losartan potassium 50 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily at 1 tablet. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks, the dose may be increased to a maximum of losartan potassium 100 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily at 1 tablet. There is no experience in using this product in children and adolescents (under 18 years old), so the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination product is not administered to children and adolescents.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who have had allergic reactions to any ingredients in this medication or to the medication itself, patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function, patients with certain electrolyte imbalances should not take this medication.
