This medicine is effective for inflammatory joint diseases such as chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It also relieves pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It is used for pain-associated swelling and inflammation following trauma or surgery. It helps in treating inflammation, pain, and fever associated with infections. It is widely used for various inflammatory and painful conditions to improve symptoms.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Administer 300 mg of dexibuprofen orally 2 to 4 times a day. However, do not exceed 1,200 mg of dexibuprofen daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding in people who regularly consume more than 3 drinks per day, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. This drug may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease; individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease or risk factors should take it with caution, and seek medical advice immediately if cardiovascular symptoms occur. There are risks of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, perforations, etc., so those with a history of gastrointestinal disease or the elderly should be particularly cautious and should stop taking the drug and consult a doctor if gastrointestinal symptoms appear. Patients with gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe liver, kidney, or heart disease, or those with an allergic reaction to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not take this medicine. The risk of gastrointestinal bleeding may increase when used concurrently with aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so do not take them together, or with certain medications like methotrexate. During treatment with this drug, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication, as dizziness or fatigue may occur, requiring caution when driving or operating machinery. Individuals with blood disorders, liver or kidney function abnormalities, high blood pressure, heart failure, or allergic history must consult healthcare professionals before use. If severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, gastrointestinal bleeding symptoms, breathlessness, liver dysfunction, kidney function decline, or cardiovascular symptoms occur while taking this medication, stop immediately and consult a doctor. Regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests are required with long-term use, and it is advisable to use the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration possible. During pregnancy, especially after 6 months, it should be avoided as it may adversely affect the fetus, and women planning pregnancy should consult a healthcare professional before use. In case of overdose, immediately visit a medical institution for appropriate treatment and keep out of reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight and storing in a cool, dry place.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid concomitant use with high-dose (15 mg/week or more) methotrexate. Also avoid glucocorticoids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, coumarin anticoagulants (such as warfarin), baclofen, and immunosuppressants.
