This medicine is used for vascular diseases related to the heart, such as hypertension, stable angina, and variant angina. Additionally, it reduces the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients with coronary heart disease confirmed by recent angiography who have no heart failure and have a cardiac output of over 40%. It also helps in reducing the risk after coronary artery revascularization. In other words, this drug plays an important role in improving cardiovascular system function and preventing cardiovascular complications.

Precautions

This drug should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it is contraindicated in individuals with allergies to this drug or similar drugs, breastfeeding women, patients with severe liver dysfunction, those with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock. Additionally, caution is needed in patients with severe hypotension, those requiring dialysis for renal failure, elderly patients, and pregnant or potentially pregnant women. Generally, this drug is well-tolerated, but some patients may experience side effects such as flushing, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarely, various adverse reactions such as hypotension, vascular inflammation, neurological issues, digestive problems, and skin rashes have been reported. Patients with heart failure or liver dysfunction should be particularly careful when administering this drug, and blood pressure may gradually decrease even after discontinuation of the medication, requiring caution when combined with other antihypertensives. This drug may cause excessive hypotensive effects when taken with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, so it is advisable to avoid co-administration. Additionally, since interactions with certain medications may occur, it is important to consult a doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications. It is recommended that this drug not be used in pregnant women, except in special cases where safety has not been established, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if this drug is taken during lactation. Use is only recommended for children aged 6 years and older; its efficacy and safety in younger children have not been established. In case of overdose, risks such as hypotension, tachycardia, and shock are present, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This drug is not removed by hemodialysis, so prompt medical action is necessary if an overdose occurs. Finally, this drug is unlikely to significantly impair the ability to drive or operate machinery, but caution is necessary if dizziness or drowsiness occurs during use.
