This medication helps relieve the symptoms of temporary insomnia characterized by difficulty falling asleep. It supports improved sleep quality for a restful night. It is used for the relief of temporary insomnia.

How to take

Adult dose

For adults, take diphenhydramine hydrochloride 50 mg orally before bedtime once a day. If excessive sedation occurs, take 25 mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with certain conditions. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication, those with asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis that may cause breathing difficulties, glaucoma patients, those with benign prostatic hyperplasia or lower urinary tract obstruction, children under 15, patients with seizure disorders such as epilepsy, those with pheochromocytoma, nursing women, and patients who routinely experience insomnia or have been diagnosed with insomnia should avoid taking this medication. During the intake of this medication, other medications containing the same active ingredient, as well as hypnotics, MAO inhibitors, cold medicine, antipyretics, cough medicine, expectorants, and antihistamines should not be taken together. This is because drug interactions may exacerbate side effects. Additionally, it is important not to continue taking this medication for an extended period. If drowsiness or lethargy persists after taking the medication, one should avoid driving or operating machinery, and it is safer to refrain from alcohol consumption during the course of treatment. Patients with myasthenia gravis, those currently receiving medical treatment, the elderly, individuals with allergic predispositions or past drug allergies, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication. Caution is advised as the safety for pregnant individuals has not been established. If abnormal symptoms such as skin rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, discomfort, palpitations, urinary difficulties, or visual disturbances occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician or pharmacist. Additionally, if symptoms do not improve after taking the medication 2 to 3 times, it is advisable to seek professional medical attention. Finally, this medication should be taken according to the prescribed dosages and administration, and if insomnia persists for more than 2 weeks, one must consult a physician. The medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain quality.
