Treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance therapy, Helicobacter pylori infection gastrointestinal ulcer antibiotic combination therapy, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
This medication is effective for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. Additionally, it alleviates symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and can be used for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease. For patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori, it can be administered in combination with antibiotics. It is also effective for conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which involves excessive gastric acid secretion. It is used to improve and treat various gastrointestinal disorders.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: administer 10 mg orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, it can be increased to 20 mg orally once daily. Treat for a maximum of 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and a maximum of 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: administer 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If not resolved after 8 weeks, an additional 8 weeks of 10 mg or 20 mg can be given once daily. For the relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further evaluation is necessary. After symptoms have resolved, on-demand therapy with 10 mg once daily can be used to manage any subsequent symptoms. Long-term maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease: administer 10 mg or 20 mg orally daily depending on the patient. Helicobacter pylori eradication: Patients infected with Helicobacter pylori should undergo eradication therapy. It is recommended to administer 20 mg of this medication along with 500 mg of clarithromycin and 1 g of amoxicillin twice daily for 7 days. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended starting dose for adults is 60 mg once daily. The dosage can be adjusted up to 120 mg per day based on individual patient needs. Doses up to 100 mg can be given once daily, while 120 mg should be divided into 60 mg twice daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome patients have been treated with this medication for up to 1 year. ◯ Patients with liver disease Adverse reactions of hepatic encephalopathy have been reported in patients with cirrhosis. Therefore, caution should be exercised. ◯ Pediatrics Safety has not been established in pediatric patients. ◯ Geriatrics Exercise caution as liver function is often impaired.
This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy to this medication or any of its components, or hypersensitivity to benzimidazole derivatives. Additionally, it is safer not to administer it to patients taking certain antibiotics or medications, as well as to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with liver dysfunction or the elderly. This medication can cause various side effects such as skin rash, itching, blood disorders, liver function abnormalities, etc., so if any unusual symptoms arise, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention should be sought. Long-term use requires regular blood tests and liver function tests. This medication may slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract by suppressing gastric acid secretion; therefore, if symptoms such as diarrhea persist, consult a doctor. Care should be taken as drowsiness may occur during driving or machinery operation. There may be drug interactions, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to notify your healthcare provider. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not use this medication, and if necessary, must consult a professional. Safety has not been established in children, so it is not used in pediatric patients. There are no specific antidotes for overdose, so appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, and tablets should not be chewed or crushed but swallowed whole. Keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, so caution is advised. Additionally, hypomagnesemia may occur, so regular monitoring of magnesium levels is needed during prolonged use.
Urticaria, chest tightness, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in mouth/eyes, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attack, difficulty breathing accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), severe fatigue throughout the body, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, significant decrease in urine output, severe systemic edema
