Reduction of hypertension and risk of coronary artery disease, improvement of dyslipidemia
This medication is used for patients who need to take both amlodipine and atorvastatin simultaneously. Amlodipine treats conditions where blood supply to the heart is inadequate, such as hypertension and stable or variant angina, and reduces the risk of hospitalization for angina in patients without heart failure as well as the risk associated with vascular recanalization procedures. Atorvastatin reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina in adults with multiple cardiovascular risk factors, diabetes, or established cardiovascular disease, and helps lower the risks of vascular recanalization and heart failure hospitalization. It also aids in lowering levels of bad cholesterol and lipids in patients with various types of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, while increasing good cholesterol levels. This medication is used to protect and improve cardiovascular health.
For amlodipine (as esamlodipine), 5 (2.5) mg should be administered orally once daily, and the dose may be increased up to 10 (5) mg daily depending on the patient's response. Atorvastatin should start at 10 mg once daily, and may be increased to 20 mg or 40 mg once daily if necessary. The usual dosing range is from 10 mg to 80 mg once daily. After initiating treatment and adjusting the dosage, lipid levels should be analyzed after 2 to 4 weeks.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients.
