Prevention of vitamin C deficiency and treatment of scurvy, promotion of capillary hemorrhage and bone union effects
This medication is used to prevent and treat scurvy, which is a deficiency of vitamin C. It is also beneficial for pregnant or nursing women, as well as those engaged in heavy physical labor, where the demand for vitamin C increases. Moreover, it is effective in promoting bone matrix formation and healing fractures, as well as alleviating symptoms of vitamin C deficiency due to capillary hemorrhage or the use of certain medications. Additionally, it contributes to improving skin health by addressing issues such as chloasma, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and photosensitive dermatitis. This vitamin C supplement is used to enhance health in various situations.
As Ascorbic Acid, administer 50 to 1,000 mg per day, divided into 1 to several subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injections. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should be used very cautiously as glass fragments may mix when cutting the glass container for injection. Extra care is required, especially when used for children or the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, hyperoxaluria, Mediterranean anemia, gout, or cystinuria. Additionally, caution is advised for patients with certain enzyme deficiencies as hemolytic reactions may occur with high doses. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, fatigue, face flushing, headache, and insomnia. Especially with doses exceeding 1 gram per day, the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones may increase. Excessive intake can result in the formation of stones in the urinary tract, so the prescribed dosage should be followed. The injection should only be used when oral administration is difficult or in acute situations, and it is advisable to switch to oral intake as soon as feasible. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is warranted when taken with aspirin, alcohol, certain antibiotics, anticonvulsants, contraceptive pills, etc. Moreover, the effectiveness may be reduced when used with anticoagulants. During pregnancy, safety for the fetus has not been fully established, so use should be limited to necessary cases and high doses should be avoided. In nursing, this medication can be transmitted through breast milk, but it is generally not dangerous to the baby at standard dosages. This medication can affect some clinical test results, so it is crucial to inform your doctor about its use when undergoing testing. In cases of overdose, the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones may increase, and diuretic effects might occur, so if symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment sought. When used as an injection, temporary pain at the injection site may occur, and injections should avoid nerve areas, with slow injection rates recommended. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a dry place. It should be kept in its original container to maintain quality.
