This medication is used to lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It is also used in initial therapy to reach target blood pressure for patients with moderate to severe hypertension (stage 2) who do not achieve sufficient blood pressure control with monotherapy or those who need to take two or more medications together. In other words, it is effective for patients who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure and helps maintain stable blood pressure management.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. 1. For patients whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy - For patients where either Irbesartan 150 mg or Hydrochlorothiazide alone does not adequately control blood pressure, administer 1 tablet of Irbesartan 150 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. - For those whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by Irbesartan 300 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, patients with anuria, patients with severe renal impairment, patients with certain electrolyte abnormalities or liver disease, and patients with a history of hereditary angioedema. Patients with specific disorders such as hypotension, impaired renal function, liver disease, heart valve disease, and closed-angle glaucoma should use this medication cautiously, as there may be an increased risk of skin cancer; therefore, sun exposure should be limited, and skin condition should be checked regularly. During the use of this medication, side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and abnormal urination may occur, so if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a physician. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed, and patients at risk of hypotension should manage sodium intake and fluid status appropriately. Regular blood tests should confirm renal function and electrolyte levels, paying particular attention to changes in potassium levels. Diabetic patients may be affected in blood glucose control, so consult a physician before and after taking the medication, and inform if there are any other medications being taken that may interact with this medication. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and in pediatric and adolescent populations. In case of an overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, nausea, and drowsiness may occur; contact a medical institution immediately for appropriate measures. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept sealed in its original container.
