How it is given

Adult administration

For adults, administer 2-20 mL intravenously once a day. For chronic liver disease, administer 40-60 mL once a day either intravenously or via drip infusion. The total dose should not exceed 100 mL per day when increasing the dosage. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is in a glass ampule for injection, so care must be taken to avoid glass fragments when breaking the container. Extra caution is needed when administered to children or the elderly. Patients with an allergy to this medication or those with certain conditions (aldosteronism, muscular lesions, hypokalemia) should not use it. Administration to these patients may worsen their symptoms. Elderly patients or those with an allergy to sodium bisulfite should use this medication with caution, as sodium bisulfite may cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks. During administration of this medication, symptoms of shock (e.g., low blood pressure, difficulty breathing) may occur, so patients should be closely monitored, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, administration should be halted immediately, and appropriate action taken. Additionally, this medication may cause hypokalemia-related side effects, thus potassium levels in the blood should be checked regularly and usage should be stopped if abnormalities are detected. Hypokalemia can lead to weakness or decreased muscle strength. Patients should be kept stable after administration and closely monitored. Caution is needed when using this medication in combination with other drugs containing licorice, as it may increase side effects. This medication may lower potassium levels further when used alongside certain diuretics, so potassium levels should be frequently monitored even when used together. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Elderly patients have a higher risk of side effects like hypokalemia when using this medication, so their condition should be closely monitored, and administration should be cautious. When administered intravenously, it should be injected as slowly as possible to prevent venous pain, and the patient's condition should be carefully observed during administration. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent quality deterioration or misuse. Finally, caution is needed as serious side effects such as rhabdomyolysis have been reported when taken with medications containing licorice or glycyrrhizin.
