Precautions

This medication contains Donepezil Hydrochloride Monohydrate as the active ingredient and is used for the treatment of symptoms associated with Alzheimer's type dementia. This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to specific ingredients or in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Caution is advised for patients with heart disease or cardiac conduction disorders, patients with a history of peptic ulcers or those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, patients with a history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease, and patients with extrapyramidal disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Since this medication may slow the heart rate or cause arrhythmias, patients with heart disease should be particularly cautious. Additionally, there may be an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or worsening of peptic ulcers, so monitoring for gastrointestinal symptoms is necessary. This medication may trigger bronchoconstriction, potentially worsening asthma symptoms; thus, patients with respiratory diseases should be careful. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, insomnia, muscle pain, fatigue, and headaches may occur. Rarely, severe heart problems, liver dysfunction, cerebrovascular disorders, or renal failure may arise, and if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with healthcare providers is necessary. The risk of side effects may increase when used with other medications that affect cardiac conduction, so it is essential to inform about any other medications being taken. It is recommended to avoid this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, especially for nursing mothers who should discontinue breastfeeding during treatment. Safety in children has not been established; therefore, it is advisable not to use this medication in children. This medication may affect driving or operating machinery, so caution is required during the initial doses or when adjusting the dosage. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sweating, bradycardia, hypotension, respiratory depression, and seizures may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may adversely affect quality.
