Improvement of voiding disorders due to benign prostatic hyperplasia
This medication is used to improve urinary disorders due to benign prostatic hyperplasia, specifically the symptoms of frequent urination and difficulty in urination.
Adults: Administer orally either 1 capsule of 4mg twice daily after breakfast and dinner, or 2 capsules (8mg) of 4mg once daily with a meal. However, increased plasma concentrations of silodosin have been reported in patients with renal impairment, and plasma concentrations may also increase in patients with hepatic impairment. Therefore, monitor the patient's condition and adjust the dose appropriately according to symptoms, such as by starting at a low dose (1 capsule of 2mg twice daily).
This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or severely decreased liver function should also avoid using this medication. Particularly, when taken with certain strong medications, this medication's blood concentration may increase, leading to a higher risk of side effects, so concurrent use should be avoided. Patients with orthostatic hypotension or slightly impaired liver or kidney function should use this medication cautiously. Patients taking other medications that lower blood pressure should be cautious as symptoms of blood pressure drop may worsen. This medication may cause various side effects such as ejaculatory dysfunction, dry mouth, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, etc., so patients should consult a doctor or pharmacist if any unusual symptoms occur. In particular, fainting due to low blood pressure or liver dysfunction may occur, so if symptoms arise, patients should inform medical personnel immediately. Care should be taken when driving or performing dangerous activities at heights due to possible dizziness or lightheadedness. Keep this medication out of the reach of children, and avoid transferring it to other containers. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so they should start with a lower dose and be monitored for their condition. This medication may affect conditions similar to prostate cancer, so it is important to check for prostate cancer before treatment. Additionally, patients undergoing cataract surgery should inform medical personnel of this medication use, as intraoperative pupillary dilation syndrome may occur.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
