This medication should not be used in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and in nursing women. It should not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation, as it may exacerbate symptoms by stimulating gastrointestinal motility. This medication should be avoided in patients with specific tumors known as pheochromocytoma, as it may cause hypertension. Patients with allergies or intolerance to this medication should not use it. This medication should not be administered to patients with liver diseases or those in a manic phase of bipolar disorder. Patients with malignant diseases in the mammary glands should be cautious, as this medication can increase prolactin secretion and cause breast development disorders. Hypertensive patients, children, and the elderly should exercise particular caution when using this medication, and overdosing should be avoided in children. This medication may cause endocrine side effects such as amenorrhea, excessive lactation, and gynecomastia due to hormonal secretion abnormalities, hence symptoms should be closely monitored. Extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and feelings of anxiety may rarely occur, and if such symptoms appear, dosing should be discontinued. Long-term use may lead to tardive dyskinesia symptoms such as involuntary movements around the mouth, requiring discontinuation of the medication. Gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Cardiovascular abnormalities such as hypertension or arrhythmias may occur, requiring caution. A serious side effect known as Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome has been rarely reported; if high fever, muscle rigidity, or changes in consciousness occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and emergency treatment is necessary. During the course of this medication, it is advisable to avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is especially needed when used with anticholinergics, analgesics, digitalis preparations, other antipsychotic medications, or alcohol. When combined with drugs that increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, the risk of cardiac-related side effects may increase, necessitating close monitoring. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use this medication as safety has not been established. The elderly should be mindful of dosage adjustment and monitoring for side effects as renal function may decline, leading to prolonged presence of the drug in the body. This medication has the effect of relieving vomiting, which may mask symptoms depending on the cause of vomiting, hence patient condition should be closely monitored. Long-term high-dose use has been reported to increase the risk of decreased reproductive function or tumor occurrence, warranting caution in prolonged use.
