This medication is used for patients with hypertension and myocardial ischemia due to fixed coronary artery occlusion or vasospasm. It also reduces the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients who have recently been diagnosed with coronary heart disease via angiography, as long as they have no heart failure or an ejection fraction of 40% or more. Additionally, it helps to reduce the risks associated with coronary artery revascularization. This drug is effectively used in the treatment and management of cardiovascular diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

This drug should be taken with enough water. The oral dosage of Esamlodipine is 2.5 mg once daily, and it may be increased to a maximum of 5 mg daily according to the patient's response. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Child dose

The oral dosage of Esamlodipine for effective blood pressure lowering is 1.25 mg to 2.5 mg once daily. Doses exceeding 2.5 mg per day have not been studied in pediatric patients.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients allergic to this drug or similar components, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients in serious shock, those with severe aortic stenosis, unstable angina patients, those within one month post-myocardial infarction, patients with severe liver dysfunction, and those with severe hypotension should not be administered this drug. Additionally, caution should be exercised in very severely impaired renal function patients, the elderly, acute heart failure patients, hypertensive crisis patients, and patients with mildly to moderately impaired liver function. When taking this medication, side effects such as flushing, warmth, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, and ankle swelling may occur. Rarely, various adverse reactions such as hypotension, vasculitis, insomnia, skin rashes, and liver function abnormalities may appear, so if symptoms are severe or persist, consult a physician immediately. Do not abruptly stop taking the medication; gradually decrease the dosage according to your doctor's instructions. Also, be cautious as dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating dangerous machinery. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive medications or various drugs, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. It is especially advisable to avoid taking it with grapefruit juice. If pregnant or breastfeeding, the safety of this drug has not been established, so its use should be avoided, and breastfeeding is recommended to be discontinued while on this medication. This drug can only be used in children aged 6 years and older, and elderly patients should start with a low dose cautiously as the drug concentration may increase. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, coma, etc. may occur, so immediate emergency treatment is necessary, and this drug is not removed by hemodialysis, thus requiring specialized treatment. Finally, this drug should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
