This medication is used to treat hypertension. It also helps prevent or treat kidney disease due to hypertension in patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is effective in blood pressure control and kidney protection. Overall, it is used to improve complications related to hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication can be taken without regard to meals, but it is recommended to take it at the same time each day. Adults with hypertension: The recommended starting and maintenance dose is 50 mg of Losartan Potassium taken orally once daily. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, it may be divided and taken twice daily or increased up to 100 mg once daily. For kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension: Generally, 50 mg once daily is recommended.

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. People with severely impaired liver function or certain genetic lactose-related diseases should not take this medication. Women who are breastfeeding are advised not to take this medication; if it is necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Children, especially those under 6 years of age or with severely impaired kidney function, should not take this medication. It is advisable to avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medication, and since it may interact with other medicines beyond hypertension treatment, it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist regarding other medications being taken. Symptoms such as excessively low blood pressure, kidney failure, arrhythmias, or hypoglycemia may arise, so report these symptoms to healthcare personnel immediately.
