Precautions

This medication may pose a significant risk of serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients who have an allergy to this medication or have certain kidney, liver, or electrolyte disorders, pregnant women, and patients with certain genetic lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with hypotension or compromised kidney function, liver disease, hyperuricemia, or gout should be carefully monitored while using this medication. As this medication has blood pressure-lowering effects, dizziness or drowsiness may occur at the beginning of treatment or when the dosage is changed, requiring caution in operating vehicles or machinery. While taking this medication, electrolyte levels in the blood, kidney function, and liver function should be regularly monitored for any abnormalities, particularly paying attention to changes in potassium levels. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients currently taking other medications must inform their healthcare providers and should not take potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes without consultation. Photosensitivity reactions may occur due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, so sun exposure should be limited, and if any skin problems develop, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. There is no experience using this medication in children and adolescents; therefore, its use in these populations is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience adverse effects more frequently; hence, care should be taken when administering this medication. In the event of an overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and tachycardia may appear, and immediate contact with a medical institution is necessary in emergencies. This medication should be stored in its original container and kept safely out of reach of children.
