This medication is used to treat hypertension and myocardial ischemia due to stable or variant angina. Additionally, it reduces the risk of hospitalization in patients with coronary heart disease confirmed by recent angiography who do not have heart failure or have a cardiac output of 40% or more, and also reduces the risk of coronary vascular intervention. This helps effectively manage heart health and improve symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to this drug or similar medications, nursing women, patients with severely impaired liver function, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with other cautions. Special care should be taken for patients with severe hypotension, those needing dialysis due to renal failure, elderly patients, and pregnant or potentially pregnant women. When using this medication, various side effects may occur, so caution is advised. The most common side effects include flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarely, symptoms such as excessively low blood pressure, vascular inflammation, neurological symptoms, erectile dysfunction, digestive disorders, weight changes, skin rashes, and abnormal liver function may occur. Serious side effects such as cardiac arrhythmias or myocardial infarction have been reported infrequently; if such symptoms occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Patients with heart failure or impaired liver function must be monitored more closely for the medication's effects and side effects. This medication takes time to show effects, thus it is not suitable for acute angina or other emergencies. It is known that this medication does not significantly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, but individual responses may vary, so caution is advised. This medication can interact with several other drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers about other medications being taken. Particularly, grapefruit juice may excessively enhance this medication's effects, thus it is advisable to avoid concurrent intake. Pregnant or nursing women are recommended to use other safer medications as the safety of this drug is not established. Use is possible in children aged 6 years or older, but safety and efficacy have not been established in children under the age of 6. Elderly patients can use the standard dosage, but caution is needed based on their physical condition. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop significantly, and heart function may be impaired, requiring immediate emergency treatment; dialysis is not effective. During the use of this medication, it is important to consult healthcare professionals immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur and to have regular check-ups.
