This medication is used for the initial treatment of corticosteroid-responsive skin diseases that are secondarily infected by bacteria sensitive to neomycin. It is particularly effective in conditions such as dermatitis or infected wounds. It helps to suppress infection and improve skin condition. By allowing safe and effective initial treatment, it prevents worsening of symptoms. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of secondary infections of skin diseases caused by neomycin-sensitive bacteria.

Precautions

This medication should not be used on areas with skin infections due to bacteria, fungi, viruses, or animals. Additionally, patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or its components should avoid using it. Patients with perforated eardrums, external otitis, ulcers, severe burns, perioral dermatitis, acne vulgaris, and rosacea should also avoid using this medication. Caution is advised for those with allergies to aminoglycoside antibiotics. It should not be applied to open wounds around the eyes or on mammary glands during breastfeeding. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, and children should use this medication with caution. This drug contains propylene glycol, so caution is needed if there is a history of allergy to it. While using this medication, various side effects such as skin infections, rashes, itching, and skin irritation may occur, and if such symptoms appear, usage should be stopped immediately and a consultation with a healthcare professional is recommended. Long-term use may cause thinning of the skin, discoloration, and other side effects like acne, so caution is required. Particularly, long-term application to large areas or the use of occlusive dressings may lead to systemic side effects, hence caution is necessary. In such cases, pituitary or adrenal function may be suppressed, thus regular monitoring may be required. When using near the eyes, conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts may develop, so care must be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and if it does get into the eyes, rinse immediately with clean water. This medication must be used strictly according to the prescribed method and dosage, and it is advisable to stop using it as soon as symptoms improve. Notably, when used in children, supervision by an adult is mandatory. Sensitization reactions may occur, and if itching, redness, or swelling develops during use, the medication should be stopped immediately and a healthcare professional should be consulted. Pregnant women should not use this medication for long periods or on large areas, and should only use it when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. Breastfeeding mothers should not apply this medication to their breasts, and care should be taken as systemic use may transfer to the baby through breast milk. Children are at greater risk of side effects than adults, so extra caution is needed, especially to prevent the occlusive dressing effect caused by diapers. This medication should not be used with occlusive dressings without a physician's direction, and the affected area should be kept clean before use. Finally, store this medication in a safe place out of reach of children, and caution is needed for psoriasis patients as prolonged heavy use may worsen skin conditions.
