Precautions

This medication contains chlorhexidine, which is a topical agent that has a bactericidal effect on the skin and mucous membranes. First, this medication should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to chlorhexidine, as severe allergic reactions may occur in such cases. Additionally, caution should be exercised in individuals with allergies to other medications or those with allergic conditions such as asthma or a family history of such conditions, as the risk of exacerbated allergic reactions may increase. During use, severe shock symptoms may rarely occur, so if symptoms such as nausea, discomfort, cold sweat, dizziness, respiratory distress, or skin redness appear, use should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. Occasionally, allergic symptoms such as skin rashes or urticaria may occur, and use should also be stopped in such cases. In severe instances, a life-threatening reaction called anaphylactic shock may occur. This medication may cause photosensitization reactions, making the skin sensitive to light, so caution is required when exposed to sunlight. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid using this medication as its safety has not been confirmed due to insufficient clinical trials. This medication must only be used topically and should never be ingested or injected. If ingested accidentally, it is necessary to wash the stomach using milk or eggs and seek appropriate treatment at a hospital. Care should be taken to prevent this medication from coming into contact with the eyes, as it may cause severe corneal damage. If contact occurs, rinse the eyes immediately with clean water. It is advisable to avoid use on large wounds or burn areas, especially in premature infants and newborns, as the risk of systemic side effects is higher. When used for extended periods or over large areas, care should be taken to avoid inhaling the vapors of this medication. The bactericidal effect of this medication may be reduced by organic substances such as blood, pus, etc., so it should be thoroughly rinsed when disinfecting medical instruments. Soap may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so it is important to wash away soap completely before use. This medication can be absorbed by fibers such as cotton, gauze, wool, or rayon, thus it is crucial to use a fresh solution that maintains the effective concentration when soaking. It is advisable to use clean distilled water when diluting, and the diluted solution must always be sterilized. For hand disinfection, it is safest to exchange the diluted solution daily. This medication should maintain an appropriate pH (5-7), as a higher pH may cause precipitation and reduce effectiveness. Diluted solutions should not be stored at high temperatures for prolonged periods; it is best to use them immediately after preparation, and any leftover solution should be discarded. For prolonged use, it is preferable to add alcohol to the dilution to prevent microbial contamination.
