Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who may become pregnant should not use this medication, and those planning to become pregnant or who are pregnant must consult a physician. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain allergies, severely impaired kidney or liver function, or electrolyte imbalances. Caution is required for patients with extremely low blood pressure, problems with renal blood vessels, a history of hyperuricemia or gout, and elderly patients. Since this medication has a blood pressure-lowering effect, dizziness or drowsiness may occur upon initiation of treatment or with dosage changes, necessitating caution when driving or operating machinery. During treatment, blood electrolytes and kidney function should be monitored regularly to detect any abnormalities early, especially for hypokalemia and hyperkalemia. Additionally, this medication may cause sensitivity to sunlight, so prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light should be avoided, and any skin abnormalities should be reported to a physician immediately. Drug interactions may occur if used in conjunction with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or potassium supplements, therefore all medications being taken should be disclosed to the physician. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and tachycardia may occur; immediate emergency care is necessary, and since this medication is not removed by hemodialysis, specialized treatment is required. While taking this medication, adequate hydration and maintenance of electrolyte balance should be ensured, and if symptoms worsen or adverse reactions are suspected, medical consultation should be sought immediately.
