This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and for the treatment of osteoporosis in men.

How to take

Adult dose

For Risedronate Sodium, take 35 mg orally once a week. Food can interfere with the absorption of this medication, so it should be taken at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before or after the intake of food or beverages during the day. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of plain water (170-230 mL) in an upright position. Do not chew or suck on the tablet, and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the stomach and esophagus, so caution is especially needed for individuals with upper gastrointestinal diseases. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of water, and you must not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. If you experience pain in the esophagus, difficulty swallowing, or heartburn, stop taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor. This medication should not be taken by individuals with esophageal disorders, hypocalcemia, severe kidney dysfunction, pregnant or breastfeeding women. As a bisphosphonate, long-term use can rarely lead to osteonecrosis of the jaw or atypical femur fractures, so caution is necessary. Calcium and vitamin D supplementation is required, and this medication should not be taken with medications or foods containing calcium, magnesium, or iron. To ensure the safety of children, keep this medication out of their reach, and do not transfer it to other containers. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children, and elderly patients can take it without special precautions. In case of overdose, calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood may decrease, so consult a healthcare provider immediately if symptoms appear.

Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, abnormal breathing accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, disorientation, visual disturbances, paralysis.
