This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 5mg tablet orally once a day. Take 35mg tablet orally once a week. Take 150mg tablet orally once a month. Food can interfere with the absorption of this medication, so take it at least 30 minutes before meals or at least 2 hours before or after any food or drink intake during the day. The tablet should be taken upright with a sufficient amount of plain water (170-230ml) and should not be chewed or sucked.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the upper gastrointestinal tract, so caution is especially needed for those with issues in the esophagus or stomach. Take with a sufficient amount of water, and do not lie down for a period of time after taking the medication to prevent esophageal damage. If symptoms such as pain in the esophagus or difficulty swallowing occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Those with delayed esophageal clearance, allergies to any of this medication's ingredients, hypocalcemia, pregnant or nursing women, and those with severe renal impairment should not take this medication. If calcium and vitamin D deficiency exists, treatment should be ensured before taking this medication, and it is recommended to take calcium and vitamin D supplements concurrently. Bisphosphonate class medications can rarely cause serious side effects such as osteonecrosis of the jaw or atypical femur fractures, so caution is needed with long-term use. When taking this medication, avoid taking it with foods or medications containing calcium, magnesium, or iron, as this can interfere with absorption and effectiveness. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers should either stop taking it or cease breastfeeding. It is advisable not to use this medication in children, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, symptoms of hypocalcemia may appear, and immediate medical assistance should be sought. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities with coughing and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme fatigue, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.
