Precautions

This medication may irritate the gastric mucosa, so anyone with esophageal or gastric disorders should consult a doctor before use. Special caution is needed for patients with Barrett's esophagus, dysphagia, esophageal diseases, gastritis, duodenitis, or ulcers. After ingestion, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes and take the medication with a sufficient amount of water while maintaining an upright posture. Serious side effects such as esophagitis or esophageal ulcers may occur rarely; therefore, if symptoms such as dysphagia, chest pain, or heartburn appear, immediately discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Patients with esophageal motility disorders, hypocalcemia, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with severe renal dysfunction should not take this medication. Patients with a genetic condition that prevents the breakdown of lactose should also avoid this medication. During the use of this drug, it is important to ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, and supplementation may be needed for those undergoing long-term corticosteroid treatment. Bisphosphonate medications can cause rare side effects such as osteonecrosis of the jaw or atypical fractures; thus, oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are necessary. When taken with other drugs, absorption may be affected, particularly those containing calcium, magnesium, or iron, so a gap of at least 2 hours should be maintained between doses. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication and consult a doctor if necessary. Safety in children under 18 years has not been established, so use is not recommended. Overdose may lead to hypocalcemia; if symptoms occur, visit a medical facility immediately and calcium supplementation treatment may be administered if needed. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and it's important not to transfer it to other containers to maintain quality.
