This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or its components, those with thyroid dysfunction, those with impaired kidney function, infants under 6 months old, patients with herpes dermatitis, and individuals undergoing radioactive iodine therapy should not use this medication. Patients with severe conditions or elderly patients with a history of thyroid disease or kidney issues should use this medication with caution. This medication can rarely cause allergic reactions, as well as pain, itching, rash, irritation, dermatitis, etc., on the skin. In severe cases, use should be discontinued. Especially when treating burns, excessive usage can lead to electrolyte imbalance, kidney function decline, metabolic acidosis, and other side effects. Prolonged use may cause changes in thyroid hormone levels, and excessive exposure can result in a metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation in the throat and mouth, eye irritation and swelling, stomach upset, diarrhea, and in severe cases, respiratory distress due to pulmonary edema. Toxicity from excessive iodine usage is also a concern. When used just before delivery, it is essential to ensure that the drug does not come into contact with the newborn's eyes during washing and bathing, and if symptoms do not improve, surgical intervention should be considered. When using in patients with extensive burns, careful monitoring of hydration, kidney function, and acid-base status is needed, as there may be changes in thyroid function, so it is necessary to space out thyroid diagnostic tests by 1-2 weeks. This medication may interact with other drugs; patients undergoing lithium therapy are advised not to use this medication regularly, and synergy with certain antimicrobial agents or enzyme therapies may be reduced. It should not be used with hydrogen peroxide. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid prolonged or extensive use, as it may affect the fetal or newborn's thyroid function, and thyroid function tests for the newborn are recommended. This medication can affect the results of thyroid function tests, which should be considered at the time of testing, and overdose may result in serious symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and coma, necessitating immediate medical treatment. During use, care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, it should not be mixed with other formulations, and the wound area should be thoroughly disinfected before usage. If it spills on clothing, it should be washed immediately, and as soap may weaken the antiseptic action, thorough rinsing is necessary. This medication should be stored away from direct sunlight, and care should be taken as it may corrode if stored in metal containers.
