Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it should not be used in patients who have had an allergic reaction to this drug or its components. Additionally, in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical bowel obstruction, or perforation, this medication, which stimulates gastrointestinal motility, may be harmful and should not be given. When using this medication, patients should be carefully monitored for serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis. If symptoms such as low blood pressure, respiratory distress, facial swelling, hives, pallor, or excessive sweating occur, discontinue the medication immediately and seek proper treatment. It can affect liver function, leading to elevated liver enzyme levels or symptoms of jaundice, so liver function should be monitored closely. If abnormal signs are detected, discontinue the medication and consult healthcare professionals. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and increased salivation may occur, and neurological symptoms such as headache, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and dizziness may also be experienced. Endocrine abnormalities, such as gynecomastia and elevated prolactin levels, have also been reported, so inform healthcare professionals if any suspicious symptoms arise. Regular blood tests are required as platelet or white blood cell counts may decrease, and there is a possibility of elevated kidney function values. Although allergic reactions such as skin rash and itching are rare, they should be discontinued if abnormal symptoms occur. This medication enhances the action of acetylcholine, so it should be used with this consideration, and if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve, it is advisable not to use it for an extended period. When taken in conjunction with anticholinergics, the effect of this medication may be reduced, so care should be taken, such as spacing the dosage times. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Additionally, this medication may be secreted in breast milk, so if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be avoided or discontinued during treatment. The safety for children has not been sufficiently established, so it should be used with caution, and for the elderly, adverse reactions may occur more easily due to decreased physiological function, so symptoms should be carefully monitored. Lastly, this medication should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container may pose a risk of accidents or decrease in quality.
