This drug is used for improving blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes by assisting dietary and exercise therapy, with the combination of sitagliptin and metformin.

How to take

Adult dose

This drug is typically taken twice daily with food, gradually increasing the dose to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. 1. Patients not currently treated with metformin: Take this drug 50/500 mg two times a day, with one tablet each time, and it may be increased to 50/1000 mg, also two times a day, with one tablet each time. 2. Precautions

This drug contains the ingredients sitagliptin and metformin and is used in the treatment of diabetes. First, this drug may cause serious allergic reactions, although rare; therefore, if symptoms such as rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occurs, seek immediate medical attention. This drug should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, particularly those with moderate or severe renal impairment, and regular kidney function tests should be conducted. Especially in cases of dehydration, severe infection, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction, this drug should not be administered or should be temporarily suspended. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop taking this drug 48 hours prior to the procedure and can resume again after kidney function has returned to normal post-surgery. It is safer for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding mothers, to avoid taking this drug. Pay attention to symptoms of hypoglycemia during treatment, especially when used in combination with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. During treatment, ensure that meal patterns are not irregular or insufficient, and proper nutritional supplementation is necessary after intense exercise. This drug has an increased risk of lactic acidosis when taken with alcohol; therefore, it is advisable to avoid drinking. Also, this drug may interact with certain medications, so if other drugs are being taken, it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist. Regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be performed to confirm the safety of the medication, and monitoring of vitamin B12 levels is also recommended. If blisters on the skin or severe joint pain occur while taking this drug, consult a doctor immediately. Finally, this drug is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe skin reactions, cutaneous vasculitis, acute pancreatitis, liver abnormality (jaundice), significant neurological symptoms (headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, etc.), acute renal failure, respiratory distress, severe and disabling joint pain, blistering similar to pemphigus, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, hypoglycemia, lactic acidosis, severe edema, or urination issues.
