This medication is used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency. It also helps to supplement vitamin B1 in cases of deficiency, such as during chronic diseases, hyperthyroidism, pregnancy and lactation, or intense physical labor. It is effective for Wernicke's encephalopathy and beriberi heart disease. Additionally, it is used when vitamin B1 deficiency or metabolic disorder is suspected, in cases of neuralgia, myalgia, peripheral neuropathy, and myocardial metabolic disorders. However, long-term use without purpose for more than one month is not recommended. This medication is effective in improving various symptoms related to vitamin B1 deficiency.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Administer fursultiamine typically as a subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection of 5 to 100 mg per day for adults. Adjust the dosage according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is in the form of a glass ampule, and glass fragments may mix in during use, so great care should be taken when opening the ampule. Special caution is required when used in children or the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with allergies to this drug or its ingredients. It should be administered with caution to patients who have previously experienced drug allergy reactions. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as shock can occur, so if symptoms like hypotension, chest pain, or breathing difficulty occur during administration, use should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Additionally, rare hypersensitivity reactions, such as skin rashes, may occur, and if such symptoms arise, administration should be halted. Gastrointestinal disturbances may cause nausea, vomiting, inflammation of the mouth, and occasionally diarrhea, as well as symptoms such as headaches or frequent urination. It is advisable to inject slowly to reduce vascular pain. Leftover solution after use should not be reused to prevent bacterial contamination. When opening an ampule, it is safest to hold the marked part upwards and lightly press the opposite side to cut cleanly. The area around the ampule should be wiped with alcohol cotton to prevent contamination from foreign substances. The medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring to another container should be avoided to maintain quality and safety.
